Ukhrul, January 07 2017:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has appealed to all Churches in the Naga territories to offer a "Special Prayer" on January 8 (Sunday) .
In a statement, the UNC came out strongly against the creation of 7 new districts without consulting all the stakeholders.
"And now, it is our duty defend and protect our land" said UNC and added that the blockade is a people's movement to safeguard the rights of the Nagas.
The UNC appealed to all the Nagas to dedicate the day in prayer so that the State Government may see light and roll back the decision to create the seven new districts and for the unconditional release of UNC leaders Gaidon Kamei and SK Stephen.
It also sought the immediate intervention of the Central Government to the ongoing impasse and demanded unification of all Nagas as one Nation and one people.
