Deposit licence arms, informs DMs

Imphal, January 07 2017:
Consequent upon the announcement of the State Legislative Assembly Election, 2017, by the Election Commission of India, the District Magistrate of Chandel has issued an order urging all the gun licence holders in the Chandel district to deposit their licenced arms at the nearest or concerned police stations or Army and Assam Rifles post on or before January 15, 2017, without fail.
The licence holders can collect their arms from the same post/stations after one week of the declaration of election results.
The District Magistrate of Ukhrul and Kangpokpi also issued orders on January 4 and 5 respectively, suspending all licensed arms in the districts with immediate effect and until the expiry of one week after the declaration of election results.
The order issued by the District Magistrate of Ukhrul, directed all licensed arms holders to deposit their licensed arms and ammunition to the Officer-in-charge of the nearest police station within seven days from the date of its issue.
For Ukhrul, arms license holders have been directed to deposit their licensed arms and ammunition along with the relevant license copy to the concerned police station on or before January 12 .
