UCM lives up to Gaan Ngai spirit

Along with participating in the Gaan Ngai celebration of the Zeliangrong community, United Committee Manipur (UCM) today presented gifts to the village authorities of Langthabal Chingkha Namkaolong.
On the third day of the five-day long Gaan Ngai celebration today, an official team of UCM led by its vice president Y Nabachandra and general secretary W Second participated in the celebration at Langthabal Chingkha Namkaolong village.
In the celebration which came alive to the dances performed by boys and girls of the village, UCM vice president and general secretary presented one water tank to the village through its chief Phaomei Gaiguirung and Kumbu Gangmei Naba.
Speaking at the occasion, UCM general secretary W Second said that respecting each other's culture and tradition in a multi-cultural society like Manipur is essential.
Every community should try to preserve and promote their culture and tradition and ensure that this cultural legacy of our forefathers is not loss in the wave of globalisation.
UCM vice president Y Nabachandra observed that UCM would never accept the notion of suppressing the minor communities by the major communities.
Every community in Manipur should join hands and work together for the promotion of peace and harmony in the State, he exhorted.
The village authority of Langthabal Chingkha Namkaolong has expressed gratitude to UCM for participation in Gaan Ngai celebration as well as for presentation of gift at the occasion.
