Governor Gurbachan Jagat has greeted the people of Manipur on the occasion of Manipur's Statehood Day, 2011 which is being observed tomorrow.
In his message to the people, the Governor said that Manipur has made progress on various fronts since its attainment of Statehood on January 21, 1972.But much more still remains to be done to accelerate the development of Manipur.
Violence arising out of insurgency and ethnic misunderstanding among different communities, besides being a blemish on unity and brotherhood among the various groups inhabiting this beautiful land, have been hampering the progress of development, the Governor said, adding that the speed of development can increase only when there is mutual understanding and peace.
The Governor maintained that while celebrating the Statehood day, the people of Manipur have to resolve to reject petty differences and work unitedly for ensuring peace to provide a conducive environment for accelerating the progress of development of the State.
