Governor greets the people on Statehood Day

Imphal, January 20, 2011:
On the auspicious occasion of Manipur's statehood day, the Governor of Manipur, Gurbachan Jagat extended his warm greetings to the people of the state.
In his message to the people, Governor Gurbachan Jagat said that Manipur has made progress on various fronts since its attainment of Statehood on January 21, 1972.But much more has still to be done to accelerate the development of Manipur.
Violence arising out of insurgency and ethnic misunderstanding among different communities, and blemishes on the unity and brotherhood among the various groups inhabiting this beautiful land, have been hampering the progress of development.
The speed of development can increase only when there is mutual understanding and peace, Gurbachan Jagat.
Gurbachan Jagat appealed to the people of the state to reject petty differences and work unitedly for ensuring peace to provide a conducive environment for accelerating the progress of development of the state while celebrating Statehood Day.
