Trucks to ferry rice reach Jiribam

Imphal, January 20, 2011:
The large column of trucks which left Imphal yesterday with tight security to bring back rice reached Jiribam today.
Around 155 trucks left Imphal yesterday at about 9 am under a tight security escort of MR, IRB and CRPF personnel.
According to a reliable source, the trucks have entered into the FCI godown at Jiribam and have begun loading rice.The rice laden trucks will be leaving for Imphal soon.
In the past transport contractors used to bring the state's rice quota.
owever FCI dismissed the system and the responsibility to bring in rice to the state has been given to the state transport department.
It may be mentioned that the state government had warned truck owners who refuse to bring in rice to the state of cancelling their permits under instructions from the Union government.
