Sensitization workshop on women managers held

Imphal, January 20, 2011:
A five day Workshop on Sensitisation Awareness, Motivation for Capacity Building of Women Managers in Higher Education has commenced today at Imphal College Imphal.
The Imphal College is organizing the workshop in association with the Manipur University under the sponsorship of University Grant Commission.
Vice Chancellor, Manipur University, Professor C Amuba graced the inaugural function as chief guest.
Principal in Charge, Imphal College RK Radhapyari presided over the function.
Registrar MU, Professor N Lokendro and Vice Chancellor, MS University, Baroda Padma Ramachandra also attended the function as guests of honour.
Speaking in the occasion, Professor C Amuba said that the status of women rise in the past few decades.
They should be respected and honour.
They should not be considered as weak and one should not look down to them.
He expressed gratitude to the officials of UGC to organise such workshop in the state.
He said that there are only about 20 percent of women faculties in the Manipur University.
The five day workshop will discuss on topics like 'Women's Perspective', 'Women and Governance', 'Women and Academic Leadership', 'Managing Personal and Professional Roles' and 'Women and Research'.
A total of 34 women representatives from different higher educational institutes of the state will participate in the workshop.
Due to security reason and lodging of the resource persons, the technical session of the workshop will be held in MU campus.
