COTA submits memorandum to Guv

Imphal, January 20, 2011:
The striking teachers of the Council of Teachers Association (COTA) submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur Gurbachan Jagat stating the prevailing situation of the agitation of the teachers in demand of the 6th Central Pay in toto.
COTA mentioned about the MoU signed between the state government and the striking teachers in the memorandum submitted to the Governor.
Drawing attention and kind intervention, COTA appealed to the Governor to direct the state government to translate the MoU into action.
Meanwhile, around 1000 teachers who were undergoing training for census 2011 at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School have returned to their homes today following the commencement of the fast unto death stir of COTA.
In a press release, COTA stated that no teachers will perform the census duty assigned to them unless and until the state government gives their demand.
Head Master, Senjam Khunou Primary School, H Priyobrata and M Sakhi of Kangmong donated blankets and mosquito nets respectively to the striking teachers.
Principals of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School and CC Higher Secondary School also donated some amounts to the striking teachers.
Thanking those who support them, COTA said that they will continue their stir until the government gives their demand.
COTA also expressed gratitude to the students of TG Higher Secondary School for their moral support to the stir of COTA.
