Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has released a sum of Rs 30 crores to put up border fencing over a distance of 10 kms at Moreh in Manipur sector of the Indo-Myanmar International border.
As for the construction of the proposed Integrated Check Post at Moreh, the State Government has acquired the required land and handed over the same to MHA.
According to an official source, subsequent to release of the fund by MHA, the State Government has sanctioned Rs 3 crores to the BRO for procuring necessary equipments and tools that would be required for border fencing.
BRO has already completed the ground mapping work and realignment of the border road is being carried out.
Initially, border fencing is to be erected from border pillar no.79 to 81 .
Ganja seized : Troops of 11 Assam Rifles have seized a huge quantity of contraband Ganja from near Chingmai village under Nungba sub-division of Tamenglong district on June 24 last, reports our Tamenglong correspondent.
The seized Ganja has been handed over to the Excise Department, Tamenglong.
