A medical camp was organised by 22 Grenadiers of 26 Sector under IGAR (S) at Tuileng village of Chandel district on June 28 wherein more than 325 villagers from New Bangmol Tampak, Tuileng, Bokkan and nearby villages of Indo-Myanmar border.
A PRO IGAR (S) release said apart from diagnosing and providing medicines free of cost to the villagers, a lecture programme on 'maintenance of health and hygiene during monsoon and awareness on HIV/AIDS' was also conducted by the regimental Medical Officer at the occasion.
On the otherhand, a one day AIDS awareness camp was organised by 12 Maratha LI of 9 Sector at Samurou today during which locals were highlighted about various rehabilitation programmes of the Government for persons suffering from HIV/AIDS, said the PRO release.
It is informed that a number of prominent individuals well versed or working in the field of HIV/AIDS attended the awareness camp.
Meanwhile, 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector opened a 1500-2000 seating capacity open air theatre next to Children's Park in Chandel district headquarters and is screening the football matches for the locals.
A PRO IGAR (S) release issued today said idea of the 70 mm screening of football matches has been mooted by 26 Sector Commander Brig SK Bhanot and added that Company Operating bases at Bongyang, Machi and Larong have been following suit of the good work by providing space, generator set, satellite TV connections and organising screening of matches in community hall to watch the FIFA World Cup with comfort and ease.
