Imphal, July 01 2010:
Expressing doubt over the competence of the committee formed by the Government to inquiry into the matter related to the publication of the recruitment results of primary teachers, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has pressed the Governor for taking up necessary measures to rope in a powerful house committee or a high-powered independent investigating agency like CBI to do the job and submit the findings within a very short period.
Submitting a memorandum in this connection, DESAM urged the Governor to take serious note of the mater in the interest of saving education in Manipur.
Giving the detailed account of the recruitment process and how the declaration of the results suppressed for so long until its publication in a local daily, the memorandum signed by general secretary of DESAM M Angamba observed that such malpractices of the Government have totally uprooted the faith of the people on those who are in the governance of the State.
In such a situation, the future of education in Manipur has become obscured and uncertain, Angamba added.
