The Court of Special Judge, Manipur East has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of demoted RIMS Director Prof S Sekharjit.
Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had raided the official residence of former RIMS Director, Prof S Sekharjit in a misappropriation case after he was demoted from his post recently.
A highly reliable source said that the anticipatory bail plea of Prof Sekharjit submitted to the Court of Special Judge, Manipur East on Oct 9 was rejected.
As part of the case taken up by the CBI against the former RIMS Director, the CBI sleuths had also raided the office of Prof Sekharjit.
Besides taking the statement of Prof Sekharjit after summoning him, the CBI also took the statement of former Medical Superintendent of RIMS, Dr Shanti.
Further, a few more doctors of RIMS would also depose before the Court, the source said.
Meanwhile, the Session Judge, Manipur East has recommended that Tehelka news magazine journalist, Teresa Rehman who filed a damning fake encounter story at Khwairamband Bazar on July 23, 2009 depose her statement at Guwahati.
The Session Judge, Manipur East has conveyed the matter to the Session Judge, Guwahati.
The Tehelka journalist had appealed to the Court to grant permission to appear at a designated Court in Guwahati instead of Imphal as she feared coming to Imphal.
The date for Rehman's disposal to the Court is not known.
