Imphal, October 14 2014:
Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) and Manipur University Students' Union Revival Demand Committee (MUSU-RDC) have alleged that the university authority has deliberately resorted to pacify the students' power in the university since its conversion into central university.
In a leaflet available to the press, the students' bodies said that contract works rather than academic matters have received more attention of the authority.
Hundreds of staff were recruited without the proper procedure, charged the statement while saying that some officials are turning the university into a highest earning platform.
The university campus has been millitarised and the students democratic rights have been suppressed, the statement asserted.
Terming the authority as "Looters of the University", the students bodies pointed out that Manipur university has a Deans' Committee to shield the misdeeds of the authority.
While denouncing vice chancellor and registrar of the university in strong terms, the students bodies announced their boycott for their alleged corrupt, despotic and malpractice.
