State Health Services Director Okram Ibomcha has said that he would personally visit Tamei and Tousem Sub-Divisions with doctors and open the locked PHCs as child delivery centres within a few days.
Considering the healthcare needs of the people of these two interior Sub-Divisions, Okram Ibomcha said, doctors would be asked to permanently station there.
He made this assurance while speaking at the inauguration of X-ray and ultra sound facilities at Community Health Centre, Chakpikarong in Chandel district today.
Okram Ibomcha said that he would personally visit the two interior sub-divisions with doctors soon.
Regarding the newly installed X-ray and ultra sound machines at CHC Chakpikarong, Dr Ibomcha said that technicians have been given training and they would be able to handle the new machines within 15 days.
The Director said that the same machines would be installed in the health centre of Behiang in Churachandpur soon.
Dr Ibomcha said that all the equipment required for child delivery have been installed at Saijang health centre as well.
He added that he is coordinating well with the local MLA in providing adequate water supply to the centre.
Maintaining that he would press the Government to allocate more fund for health care in hill areas in the State budget, Dr Ibomcha said that efforts are being made to have operation theatres in all the 17 Community Health Centres (CHCs) of the State.
Earlier, Okram Ibomcha visited the health centre at Machi.
Dr Ibomcha said that most women in Machi deliver child in their respective homes as there is no Government child delivery centre at the village.
As the health centre is located up in the hill, people are facing inconveniences in reaching the centre, Ibomcha said and added that he would request Chandel DC to arrange a building at District Administrative Block complex for the centre.
Once the health centre is made operational in the new building, infant mortality rate in the village would automatically come down with the increase of institutional delivery, Ibomcha added.
Dr Ibomcha was accompanied by MLAs N Victor and DK Korungthang, Chandel CMO, Chandel DC, State UNICEF Consultant Arun Meitram and other officials.
Village authorities, students, association members of Chandel were also present at the inauguration function.
