Imphal, May 14 2015 :
Taking serious note of the tense situation unfolding in the State in the wake of the murder of two labourers by KRF at Thingsat, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and United Committee Manipur (UCM) have appealed to all the people not to let themselves swayed by emotions or rumours.
Speaking to media persons at the office of UCM this evening where key leaders of NIPCO, UPF and IPSA were also present, AMUCO advisor KT Rehaman and UCM president E Johnson expressed deep concern over the unfolding situation.
The murder of two labourers was not an act of targeting one community by another.
It was an isolated criminal case committed by militants of KRF.
However, it was projected as if the double murder was targeting a particular community.
The Government should take up some concrete measures at the earliest after identifying all those KRF cadres involved in the double murder.
The culprits should be awarded exemplary punishment in full public view.
If the Government fails to do so, people may assume that it is condoning the culprits.
All Kuki MLAs should cooperate with the Government in identifying the KRF cadres involved in murdering the two labourers.
There have been several instances of violence and crime committed by militant groups after they signed SoO pact with the Government.
The murder of the two labourers was one of many crimes committed by militant groups under SoO pact.
But the Government did not do anything to rein in the wrongdoers.
If the SoO ground rules cannot be enforced, it would be better to abrogate the pact, KT Rehaman and Johnson said.
They appealed to all the people to keep calm and sanity, and restrain from one another.
While condemning the murder of two labourers by KRF in the strongest term, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has also condemned the lynching of a man by a mob at a spot between Haorang Keirel and Lamsang in the same degree.
KIM general secretary Khaimang Chongloi said that the Government should punish those people involved in killing the innocent man together with the KRF cadres found guilty for the double murder.
KIM has already directed its Churachandpur, Moreh and Sadar Hills branches to maintain calm and avoid any form of communal confrontation.
