Speaker is equally responsible for the crime: SI's wife

Th Lokeshwar, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly should be held equally responsible along with his escorts/guards for the physical assault on Sub-Inspector (SI) Arambam Amitabh, alleged his wife Arambam Ongbi Vandana during a press conference held at Manipur Press Club on Thursday.
The violent act committed against Amitabh in front of his wife and his two minor children is an act that amounts to Human Rights Violation said Vandana.
"The insensitive act has left a scare on me and my children and had shown the seeds of revenge in the mind of my young children", said stated.
Vadana also expressed dismay with the Speaker who has been assigned to uphold the law and is well versed in the nuances of law misinformed the public through the Assembly Secretary about his absence from the crime scene.
She affirmed that the Speaker was present on the western side of Kangla.
Accusing the commander of the escort team and his subsequent suspension is a short term measure adopted by the State Government, observed Director, Human Rights Alert (HRA) during the press conference.
The Speaker was mentioned as one of the perpetrators of the crime in the FIR lodged in connection with the incident.
However, the name of the Speaker had been removed from the FIR informed Director, HRA.
