ADC poll Electioneering activities speed up in hills

Electioneering for the ensuing ADC poll in the hill areas of the State slated for June 1 is gaining momentum.
Flag hoisting programme for Paojalet Touthang, BJP candidate for Chingdai Khullen DCC of Sadar Hills ADC was held yesterday at his residence located at Canaan Veng, North AOC.
The flag was hoisted by vice-president of BJP Manipur State unit, Mangiton and attended among others by former Minister C Doungel, village chiefs and religious leaders.
Speaking at the occasion, Paojalet Touthang, who was earlier elected as member of the ADC on Congress ticket, said that he is joining the BJP due to the alleged biased conducts of the Congress party during the last term of the Council.
He said that the first chairman of Sadar Hills ADC, SH Seipu was removed from office as he was corrupt and incompetent to raise the issues of Sadar Hills in the last term.
Haokholal Hangshing replaced him as the chairman of the ADC later.
Again, a trust motion was moved against Haokholal by him as he (Haokholal) was also said to be involved in corruption, he said.
Although he (Paojalet Touthang) had the support of the majority members, the Congress party had failed to remove the chairman from his post and allowed him to continue functioning as the chairman.
Paojalet said such biased and unfair conduct of the Congress has prompted him to shift party loyalty.
Meanwhile, MLA D Korungthang exuded confidence that the Congress will emerge victorious in the ensuing ADC election in Chandel.
He was speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony of Ngamkholal Baite, INC candidate for Sugnu DCC today at Sugnu Tribal.
D Korungthang appealed to the voters to vote for the Congress.
Kumar Chothe, Block Congress Committee, Chandel presided the function.
Ngamkholal Baite spelled out his agendas for the area in the coming five years.
Flag hoisting programme of NPF candidate for 5-Huining DCC, VS Paothing was held today at his residence at Paorei village in Ukhrul district.
Four candidates will fight for Huining seat in the ensuing ADC poll slated for June 1.Congress candidate for Huining seat, Ngachonmi Chamroy had already set off his campaign at his village, Halang amidst the 'repulsive responses' the party faces.
Area unit president of the NPF, Peter R Shimray hoisted the flag for the party candidate, VS Paothing today.
NPF leaders like Paul Muinao, TS Elvis, Sorin Khaleng, local Pastor Jonah M Solo, chairman of Paorei village, Ngasoching Zimik and NFP candidate for Chingai DCC AS Themreingam attended the flag hoisting programme today.
Simultaneously, the flag hoisting programme for NPF candidate for Phungyar DCC, and BJP candidate for 4-Nungbi DCC was held today.
Flag hoisting ceremony of two BJP candidates of Tengnoupal Mandal was held.
K Leingam Tarao, president, ST Morcha, Chandel district hoisted the flag for Khoibu DCC, D Modar Maring while Jaydev Sharma, VP BJP Manipur unit and Chandel district in-charge hoisted the flag for TC Mephun Charanga, the party candidate for 4-Kangoi DCC.
Flag hoisting and campaign kick off ceremony for BJP candidate Dilungheing was held on May 12at Makuilongdi village in Senapati district.
RH Engaulungbe James, advisor BJP & ex-vice chairman MNADC, hoisted the flag.
Many prominent leaders, social workers, Churches leaders, leaders of different organizations and well-wishers attended the programme.
