Imphal, May 14 2015 :
Committee for Koziiri and Dzuko land boundary resolved that Manipur Government should be held responsible if untoward incident between people of Mao and Nagaland over border issue takes place.
The resolution was brought to the notice by its convenor N.Henry in a press meet held at the office of Mao Council at Tadubi under Senapati District.
The committee had also called for a 24 hour strike with effect from 22nd May midnight.
The committee also expressed that the border issue dates back to many years and by now Nagaland had encroached a large portion of land.
The situation came to an alarming situation during October 2014.But the government of Manipur turned a deaf ear about the encroachment despite timely alert from the committee.
In a memorandum the committee had intimidated the Manipur government of a possible agitation with a deadline of 23rd April if action is not taken up to protect the land from being encroached by Nagaland.
The committee also expressed that if any positive step is not taken up even after the strike Manipur government should be responsible of any untoward incident between the people of Mao and people of the neighbouring Nagaland.
N Boy spokesperson of Committee for Koziiri and Dzuko land boundary expressed that Manipur government should be sensitive about the tension among the people of Mao about the unsettled border issue.
It would be against the interest of the people if the Manipur government keeps mum on the issue.
The encroachment issue by neighbouring Nagaland over Manipur had also taken place earlier in the Jessami-Nagaland border.
The committee also urged the Manipur government to keep police forces in Dzuko to protect land encroachment from Nagaland side.
