Mayang Imphal school bags top position Jiribam saves Govt schools' face

With a huge score of 475 out of 500, Melody Khoirom of Khuman Maheikol, Mayang Imphal has topped the HSLC Exam 2015 .
Of all the schools which made it to the top 25 merit list, Jiribam Higher Secondary School is the only Government school.
Its student Amandeep Mishra virtually saved the face of all Government schools by securing 8th position together with Nao-rem Kabita of Victory High School, Kakching.
Toijam Sanjina of Little Flower School, Imphal and Gurumayum Gopalkrishna of Don Bosco High School, Imphal are placed joint second.
They scored one mark lesser than the topper.
Victoria Ngangbam of Nirmalabas School won the third position with a total score of 469 marks.

The results were declared by Education Minister Moi-rangthem Okendro in the pre- sence of Link Commissioner Education (S) P Vaiphei along with officials of Board of Secondary Education Manipur and Joint Secretary Education (S) Abdus Salam at his Secretariat North Block office chamber.
Tiny Tots' Unique School has the maximum number of students in the top 25 merit list.
As many as 12 students made it to the merit list.
Little Flower School, Imphal and Nirmalabas School, Imphal have six students each in the merit list.
St Joseph's School, San-gaiprou has five students in the merit list while Catholic School, Canchipur has three.
Two students of Vale Academy, Ghari also made it to the merit list.
However, the pass percentage is the lowest in the past four years.
It stands at a dismal 61.52 .
Out of 34460 students who appeared the HSLC Exam 2015, only 21225 cleared the exam.
Pass percentages of 2012, 2013 and 2014 were 70, 72 and 68 respectively.
District-wise pass percentage is Imphal West 64.16, Imphal East 56.39, Thoubal 71.48, Bishnupur 61.03, Ukhrul 56.19, Churachandpur 60.41, Senapati 50.44, Tamenglong 82.39 and Chandel 53.88 .
Commenting on the performance of Government schools, Okendro noted that a Government school student is among the top ten rank holders this year.
Further, he said that eight Government schools located in greater Imphal area namely CC Hr Sec.
School, TG Hr Sec.
School, Ananda Singh Hr Sec.
School, Johnstone Hr Sec.
School, Ibotonsana Girls Hr Sec.
School, Lamlong Hr Sec.
School, Model Hr Sec.
School and Ram Lal Paul Hr School would conduct a joint admission entrance exam on May 27 .
He added that the intake capacity of the eight schools is 4670 and all the relevant information and forms can be obtained from the department's website.
He said that all the schools now have basic infrastructure including toilets and science laboratories.
Assuring that these eight Government schools would have the best teachers to teach students and bring quality education, Okendro added that qualification and resume of teachers will be displayed at the entrance of each school.
Moreover free coaching on medical courses would also be provided for students at Johnstone Hr Sec.
School and CC Hr Sec.
School.
Stating that there would be no political interference in education sector, he further added that new incentives for both teachers and students would be introduced to encourage students and teachers work hard and bring quality education.
Later he appealed to all parents not to fall victim of dubious CBSE schools offering higher marks and said that proper action would soon be taken up against such CBSE schools.
