Imphal, March 14 2012:
Peeved at the alleged silence of the owner of the Imphal-Sugnu bus (MN03-0567) that met accident on February 23 at Wangoo Lamkhai Awang Khongnang Makhong which seriously injured four, a JAC formed in connection with the incident has informed the bus owner to report to the JAC before March 16 .
Demanding necessary compensation from the bus owner, the JAC has also threatened to impose indefinite bandh on the IndoBurma road from March 17 in case the bus owner fails to turn up.
Addressing reporters today at the Manipur Press Club, the president of the JAC, S Gopal contended that no compensation has been made by the bus owner to the accident victims till date.
He has also been absconding since the incident, he charged.
He said three seriously injured victims have been treated at Shija Hospital and one at RIMS hospital.
Two of the victims are students of Kakching Khunou College.
They met with the accident after writing their exams on the day, he added.
The bus owner did not pay heed to repeated requests made to the bus owner to come and settle the matter with the victims' families.
A JAC was formed in this connection yesterday to resolve the matter, Gopal said.
As such, if the bus owner fails to turn up by March 16 for settlement of the matter, the JAC would impose an indefinite bandh to all vehicles under Indo-Burma Sugnu Road Bus Owners' Association, Gopal maintained.
The JAC also acknowledged the monetary contribution made by the IBSRBOA to the accident victims.
