Imphal, July 14 2012:
Barely a month and half after Haokholal Hangshing was installed as Chairman of Sadar Hill ADC, a no confidence motion was moved against him by fourteen ADC members including four members who withdrew support to the Chairman.
Fourteen members of the SHADC including the four who withdrew support to the Chairman have written to the MPCC President today demanding his replacement citing Haokholal's incapability to lead the Council.
The dissident members have also submitted a copy of the complaint letter to the Kangpokpi ADC.
Earlier, the 14 members held a meeting with Lunthang Haokip, vice-president of SHDCC in the chair and Bonthaolung Panmei as the recording secretary today.
The meeting resolved to remove Haokholal from the post.
Later, addressing a press meet near Kangpokpi ADC office, spokesperson of the dissident members, Lunthang Haokip, who is also the VP of SHDCC said the incumbent Chairman Haokholal has failed to operate the functioning of the ADC administration at its headquarters, Kangpokpi which is against the wishes and desire of the majority ADC members in particular and the people of Sadar Hills as a whole.
Rather than functioning at the headquarters, the ADC chairman functioned in Imphal, Lunthang charged, which according to him, caused inconveniences to the public.
Stating that the functioning of the Council under the leadership of Hangshing has threatened and endangered the very existence of SHADC for his desire in operating the council outside its district headquarters inspite of repeated appeals and advice by certain ADC members and the public, Lunthang explained that the no confidence motion is put up to fulfil the desire of the Sadar Hills public.
Lunthang Haokip said that Haokholal was installed as the Chairman of SHADC after he garnered support of 15 members.
But due to his inefficient governance and inept leadership, four members withdrew their support and joined the ten ADC members thus reducing the council to a minority.
Further, Lunthang alleged that there is unequal distribution of Housing scheme for disbursement to the public while adding that the deduction of ten leaves of GCI sheet for his personal benefit has greatly hampered the functioning of the council in initiating of various developmental programmes.
Speaking at the occasion, Paojalet Touthang, one of the four members who shifted allegiance said that Haokholal Hangshing has failed to expand his council even after the lapse of one and half months adding that one cannot expect any development work within the district when the Chairman failed to turn up to the headquarters.
Charging that the Chairman even did not initiate election of vice-chairman of the ADC, Paojalet further alleged that the Chairman is functioning in the style of one-man army.
The members have also failed to fulfil the promise they had made to the public during election time due to the stationing of the Chairman in Imphal, Paojalet contended.
He further expressed optimism that more good works could be done by electing competent leader among the 14 dissident members to lead the council.
