Accused held; SAYO calls off highway bandh

The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) which imposed a 96 hours bandh on the NH-2 has suspended the bandh with effect from 4.30 pm today following the handing over of two accused persons along with the vehicle by the Manipur Police authorities to their Nagaland counterpart today.
SAYO president, Peter Zash�mo while informing this said that the decision was arrived at following the partial fulfilment of their demand by the Manipur Government by handing over the arrested duo along with the hijacked vehicle today afternoon to Nagaland Police for further investigation and legal procedures.
SAYO president however said that depending on the subsequent legal proceedings, the bandh could be resumed any time if it is not satisfactory to the organization.
The two accused, identified as Thoudam Premkumar alias Tamanao (30) of Samushang Shanti Khunou and Longjam Ibomcha (34) of Wangoi Longjam Leikai were handed over to the Nagaland Police today.
Meanwhile, extending appreciation to both the Manipur and Nagaland Governments for their active cooperation in tracing the missing vehicle and also in arresting the two accused, SAYO added that further investigation is on to nab the remaining culprits involved.
SAYO also stated that it would expect such cooperation from both Manipur and Nagaland governments in the days to come.
It also thanked SP (Kohima) and DC for their initiatives in this particular case.
Furthermore, the SAYO thanked the lady from Makhan village who saved the lives of the two youths from Phesama through her timely intervention.
Further, the SAYO while expressing regrets for the inconvenience cause by the bandh thanked the people of Manipur including the Naga brothers for bearing with it saying that the organization was compelled to call the bandh for a cause.
The youth organization also extends its sincere apology to anyone if their sentiment is hurt in any manner during the process of enforcing the bandh by its volunteers.
