Gym for inmates

With assistance from Social Welfare Association (SWA) and Animal Gym, Central Jail Sajiwa has opened a gym for its inmates from today.
Animal Gym and SWA founder RK Viswarjit presented 25 items of gym equipment worth Rs 1,07,450 to the jail authority at a simple function held at the jail today.
Gym routine of about an hour would be provided to its 700 inmates by grouping them into different sections every day.
Speaking to the inmates, Viswarjit said the facility is being provided by the association in order to maintain better health.
Urging the prisoners to co-operate each other in using the gym equipment, Vishwarjit also suggested them to depend on vegetable-based diet.
Saying that he is also a vegetarian, Viswarjit pointed out that vegetarian foods are more healthy than non-vegeratarian diet.
Urging the inmates to give up intoxicants in order to reap better benefits, he contended that going to gym for atleast one hour a day would give healthy living and peace of mind.
Jail inmates while querying about diet urged the jail authority to permit them in bringing in of vegetarian diet into the jail.
Responding to the querry, Jail SP IK Muivah assured the inmates to procure additional food items.
He also said that rice and pulses, which are currently provided daily are high protein diets.
Later, body builders of Animal Gym presented a body building show.
