Ukhrul, July 14 2012:
Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has termed relocation of teachers from the hills to educational institutions in Imphal valley as "unjustifiable" and demanded immediate posting of the teachers required in various schools in Ukhrul district.
In a press communiqu issued on Saturday, TKS questioned "the state government's move to transfer 11 teachers from Ukhrul to meet the increasing intake capacity in the three schools in Imphal," while terming it as "unjustifiable in the backdrop of prolong deficient teachers in the hill districts" .
Following an increase in the intake capacity of Tamphasana Girls Higher School, Churachand Higher Secondary School and Johnstone Higher Secondary School, the state Governor had issued an order to transfer the teachers from various schools in the hills and others on July 6 last.
TKS General Secretary Mahirah Raihing has described the move as perplexing when there are deficient teachers in almost all the schools in the district.
"There has been a longstanding demand to fill up the vacancies in various schools in Ukhrul.
Instead of filling up the requirements, the government has created more deficiencies," he asserted.
Further, he said that "the state government should have recruited new teachers if such need arises instead of further depriving the deprived district" .
TKS also expressed its displeasure over undue delay in sending new principal for DIET centre in Ukhrul and early resumption of academic session.
In this regard, it had earlier asked for a new head after its office was shut down following prolong dereliction of duty by the incumbent principal Dr.Gunamani Singh.
Meanwhile, the student body has maintained that there is also a report that the state government is making an attempt to divert SSA fund and expressed strong objection to such a move.
The TKS has also condemned the alleged abduction of Irungbam Irabanta and appealed to whoever is responsible for safe and early release.
"The TKS earnestly appealed to any party responsible for the alleged abduction of Irungbam Irabanta to release the person without any harm," it's statement read.
