SAYO suspends bandh

The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO), which had called for a 96-hour bandh on NH-2 (the then NH-39), has suspended the bandh with effect from 4.30pm today following the handing over of the two arrested accused along with the vehicle to the Nagaland counterpart.
Consequent to lifting of the bandh, Dimapur and Guwahati bound empty trucks which have remained stranded at Mao gate for the last many days have set out while stranded loaded trucks have started leaving Dimapur/Guwahati for Imphal.
Announcing this, SAYO President, Peter Zash�mo said that the decision was arrived at following partial fulfillment of their demand by the Manipur Government by handing over the arrested two accused along with the hijacked vehicle today afternoon to Nagaland Police for further investigation and legal procedures.
SAYO president, however, said that depending on the subsequent legal proceedings, the bandh could be resumed anytime if it is not to the satisfaction of the organization.
The organization has also extended its appreciation to both the Manipur and Nagaland Government for their active cooperation in tracing the missing vehicle and also in arresting the two accused, while further investigation is actively on to nab the remaining accused culprits involved.
Expressing hope that it would expect such cooperation from both Manipur and Nagaland governments even in the days to come, SAYO has also extended gratitude, in particular, to district administration of Kohima-SP and DC for their initiatives in this particular case.
Furthermore, SAYO thanked the lady from Makhan village, who saved the lives of the two youths from Phesama through her timely interventions.
SAYO has also expressed regrets for the inconvenience caused by the bandh to the people.
