MANEI holds executive meeting

The Manipuri Association North East India (MANEI) held its central executive committee meeting today at Guwahati Press Club, Ambari, Assam.
Adviser of MANEI Y Dhan Kumar Singh, president Khaidem Sunamani Singh, VP Khaidem Kanta Singh, GS S Prakash Singh and Assam Zone (I) president Muba Singh attended the meeting as the presidium members.
Two-minute silence was observed to condole the demise of Sapam Robinhood, who was killed in police action against protesters during the ILPS demand agitation, and SK Singh, ex-president Manipuri Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh and former executive member of MANEI.
Speaking at the programme, Seram Hirajit Singh, president of All Assam Manipuri Students' Union (AAMSU) stressed the need for all Manipuris residing outside Manipur to remain alert.
He urged all concerned not to stoke communal passion.
Addressing a press meet after the meeting, president of MANEI Khaidem Sunamani Singh said that MANEI is formed to protect and promote Manipuri culture, identity, religion, unity by people of Manipuri community residing in the eight NE States.
It is very unfortunate that some vested individuals have spread rumours about the harassment of non-Manipuris in Manipur during the ILPS demand agitation, Sunamani said.
He said that there is no harassment of non-Manipuris in Manipur.
The public agitation was only against the State Govt of Manipur.
He further urged all concerned not to give a communal colour to the episode.
