State Junior Hockey Tournament YPES, NISHS emerge champions

Imphal, September 06 2015:
Young Pioneer English School (YPES), Khurai IE and Nongchup Imphal Sagolband High School (NISHS), Imphal West respectively emerged champions of the U-15 boys and U-17 girls State Level Junior Hockey Tournament, organised by the Youth Affairs and Sports, Khuman Lampak, Imphal, today at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was attended by Youth Affairs and Sports, Khuman Lampak joint director Kh Pramoda Devi, DYASO, Imphal West Ng Motilan and football coach S Maniratan as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In today's U-15 boys' final, Young Pioneer English School , Khurai IE registered a convincing 7-2 victory over Saiton Government High School (SGHS), Bishnupur.
Kh Kingson of YPES struck a treble including a goal converted through penalty corner in the 9th minute.
Kingson scored another two goals in the 33rd and 41st minute.
It was Monish who gave an opening goal to YPES in just 3 minutes in the play.
Monish quickly added another goal in the 7th minute while M Bravery and N Bungbi netted one each in the 22nd and 49th minute giving 7 goals to YPES.
On the other hand, the Saiton side went down fighting but managed to scored two field goals through Th Misan and N Dutta in teh 35th and 39th minute respectively.
SGHS could have scored two more in the penalty corners, but YPES defenders thwarted thier attempts.
In the U-17 girls group, Nongchup Imphal Sagolband High School (NISHS), Imphal West clinched the title while Career Residential Academy, Charangpat bagged the runner's up trophy.
In the last league match, Jai Hind High School (JHHS), Mantriphukhri held Career Residential Academy (CRA), Charangpat 2-2 .
CRA witnessed an early 2-0 lead after L Pushparani and Th Raina slammed home in the 16th and 25th minute.
However, JHHS fought back hard till K Sylvia and N Diana scored in the 34th and 38th minute making the final scoreline 2-2 .
