JD-U urges for peaceful settlement

Janata Dal (United), Manipur has urged the State Government to strike a peaceful settlement with the civil organisations based in the hill districts at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons JD(U), Manipur president M Tombi Singh said the party is saddened by the loss of lives in the Churachandpur violence.
JD(U), Manipur welcomes the decision of the State Government to reopen educational institutions after about two months of complete shutdown, he said.
On the issues of the peace accord signed between NSCN (IM) and the Government of India and the introduction of ILPS in the State, a memorandum by JD(U), Manipur president and general secretary was submitted to Home Minister Rajnath Singh on September 1 .
Regarding the Naga peace accord, the Union Home Minister has assured that the territorial integrity of the State will be maintained at any cost, the JD(U) president stated.
Party general secretary Lien Gangte strongly condemned the killing of 8 civilians by security forces in the Chura-chandpur violence.
Applauding the teacher's day speech of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Lien appealed to the hill organisations like KIM, UNC, Zomi Council to reconsider the State Government's proposal for a dialogue to sort out the issue.
Lein further expressed disappointment with the suspension of mobile internet networks as a means to curb an issue.
