Imphal, December 12 2014 :
The Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur State unit has raised strong objection against the motive of the All Political Party Committee (APPC) in trying to politicise the whole issue of Inner Line Permit System by digging up the issue of hills and valley.
APPC's report which was submitted to the Chief Minister on December 10 would be fiercely opposed and objected to by NPF and like-minded groups if the report tries to vitiate the hill areas of Manipur, said a statement issued by NPF Manipur unit general secretary Honreikhui Kashung.
NPF would alert the HAC if such a report has anything to do against the will and interest of the hill people of Mani-pur.
Asking if APPC is Constitutionally empowered to restructure and rearrange the hill areas in Manipur, the NPF asserted that APPC's role and function was to study and analyse the feasibility of implementing ILPS in Manipur.
"However, it has come to our knowledge through local newspapers that APPC was likely to recommend declaration of Manipur as Hill State which is not only unconstitutional but would also amount to overstepping its role and function in the true sense of the term", it alleged.
Instead of politicising its role, APPC should have recommended for implementation of ILPS and equal development of the valley and the hills as there is an alarming influx of outsiders into the State.
It maintained that Article 371(C) of the Constitution should be fully upheld and implemented in letter and spirit.
