Imphal, December 12 2014 :
Irked by the 'unwarranted' decision taken by Director of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS) to restrict sports players from entering Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has warned of launching intense agitation if the decision is not revoked within five days of time.
Addressing a press meet at the association's office located at Keishamthong Laishram Leirak here today, P Nandajit Meitei, youth affairs & sports secretary of AMADA while questioning that whether it is right to restrict sports layers from entering playground, said that promising sports players have been discouraged by the decision which is unfortunate.
He asserted that many people including former drug addicts have pursued sports with the sole aim to become successful players and distant itself from drugs and immoral activities, while adding that the restriction imposed would prove catastrophe for them.
Saying that AMADA has been encouraging sports players of the State knowing their immense potentials, he urged the government to intervene into the matter and ensure that sports players are allowed to enter in Khuman Lampak Sports Complex at the earliest.
Instead of putting restriction on entry into the sports complex, the authority concerned should have tightened security measures in and around the complex which is a far better option.
Merely imposing restriction in the name of security is not acceptable, he stated.
