Former Minister Parijat no more

Imphal, March 10 2015:
Former Minister and CPI Manipur State Council leader Pheiroijam Parijat succumbed to an illness at his Nongada Makha Leikai home on March 5 .
Parijat joined CPI in 1965 and soon became a key political figure of the State.
He was elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly from Lamlai Assembly segment for the first time in 1972 before he wrested the same Assembly seat five times again.

He went on to become Ministers of different departments like Power, Art and Culture, , Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture and CADA at different periods of time.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Speaker Th Lokeshwar, CPI State Secretary Dr M Nara, BJP State unit president Th Chaoba and MLA Ksh Biren visited the bereaved family and conveyed solidarity.
The Chief Minister stated that the demise of Ph Parijat is a big loss for not only Manipur but also for India in the field of electoral politics.
