Grenade attack

Imphal, March 10 2015:
Suspected underground militants exploded a hand grenade at the gate of MM Higher Secondary School, Wangkhei under Porompat police station in Imphal East district at around 8 pm on March 7 last.
Soon after the blast, a police team inspected the area and took up a case regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, suspected underground militants placed a hand grenade at the gate of retired Manager of UBI, Yengkhom Janaki's residence at Uripok Achom Leikai on March 7 morning.
The bomb did not have any safety pin and it was fitted with a wire and a battery.
Family sources said that they found the explosive hanging with a piece of paper written as 'Red Army (KCP) from the railing of the gate.
A joint team of police and bomb experts led by Imphal police station OC AK Shantikumar retrieved the bomb at around 7.40 am.
Seeking clarification from the persons concerned regarding the incident, Yengkhom Janaki said that he had not received any monetary demand or threat from any underground organisation.
On the other hand, locals of Kongpal Hirangpham found an old and rusted hand grenade while cleaning their playground.
Police have retrieved the bomb from the spot.
