Regional PF Commissioner-I, Guwahati, Assam in a release said there has been reports that "some person or agencies" has been visiting Schools and establishments and wrongly informing the employers and employees that if they contribute to NPS (National Pension System), contributions under the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952 (hereunder referred as the Act) is not mandatory.
Clarifying on the issue, the Regional PF Commissioner informed that for establishments coming under the purview of the Employees Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952, contribution under this Act is mandatory.
He said at present there is no notification or order excluding eligible employees who contribute to NPS from Contributing under the Act.
"It is therefore directed that all establishments coming under the purview of the Act should mandatorily deposit the EPF contributions for eligible employees.
Non compliance shall attract penalty, interest and other legal provisions providing prosecution of the employers", informed Regional PF Commissioner.
