COVID-19: Goodwill gestures prevail across State as more donate relief items

Even as the Centre and State Governments are mulling to extend the lockdown to flatten the curve by reducing virus transmission, many continued to extend financial and relief materials to people being affected by the lockdown.
Civil society organisations, student bodies, clubs and individuals are coming forward to distribute rice, pulses and other daily essential items to their localities and neighbours.

Rehab centre and orphanage home at Moreh
Member of the Autonomous District Council, Chandel, Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip visited Adulan Rehabilitation Centre and Jehovah Jaireh Orphanage Home in Moreh town and extended relief materials.
She donated sugar, dal, mustard oil to the rehab centre and the orphanage home.
She also offered to bear the course fee of Basanta Meitei, who is pursuing (3rd year) Bachelor of Theology at Evangelical College of Theology in Churachandpur.
Basanta was about 10-year-old when he and his younger brother were admitted at the home.
MLA hands over fund, relief materials
MLA Th Lokeshwar has handed over amount and relief materials donated to Khundrakpam MLA's COVID-19 Relief Fund to village development committees and people of Leitanpokpi, Chingkhu and Morok Ingkhol.
Relief to be distributed
Essential commodities for the public under the leadership of MLA K Meghachandra Singh will be distributed to Distribution Committee of various polling stations, local youth clubs, agents and Meira Paibis of Wangkhei AC from tomorrow.
The items to be distributed include 8,000 litres of edible oil, 13,000 kg of potatoes, 13,000 kg of iodized salt and 13,000 hand sanitising soaps.
Rice and dal will also be distributed. HTTCI expresses gratitude
Hill Tribal Tenant's Committee Imphal (HTTCI) has expressed its gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East and its subordinate officials for swift action in providing rice and dal to 757 beneficiaries.
2 kg of rice and 250 gram of dal per head were distributed at Dewlahland area (347 beneficiaries), Tangkhul Avenue area (98), Checkon area (117) and Mantripukhri area (195), said a statement issued by HTTCI.
These relief goods provide sustained support to the vulnerable and deserving section of stranded tenants to some extent, it said.
Expressing sorrow on seeing many deserving tenants left empty-handed, the committee assured to extend all possible help to those who didn't get relief materials by consulting with the authority concerned.
While appreciating the State Government for their effort in combating the pandemic, the committee assured to distribute the remaining relief goods smoothly and as per guidelines.
Relief materials for homes
Under the supervision of Thoubal Forest Division DFO, Debala Laiphrakpam, staffers of Thoubal Range distributed relief materials to 7 orphanage homes, today.
The orphanage homes that received relief materials include observation home at Samaram run by ABCEDO; orphan home run by Rural Voluntary Service Wangbal; children home for boys at Charangpat; open shelter home run by Social Development & Rehabilitation Council, Phouden; working women hostel with a daycare centre run by WIGC, Thoubal and children home at Thoubal Sabaltongba.
The relief materials that were distributed are rice, potatoes,edible oil and dal.
Indian Red Cross Society helps
Imphal West district branch of Indian Red Cross Society distributed relief materials at The Hope Home (30 children), Takyel Kongbal Maning Leikai, Children Home (46 children), Tera Keithel and Old Age Home % Day Care Centre (25 inmates), Monsangei.
BSF helps CCpur locals
STC BSF CCpur continues its efforts in helping the local population of CCpur during the lockdown period.
A few days back, the STC BSF started distribution of clean drinking water to selected villages of CCpur which face water scarcity.
Today, the BSF unit conducted a programme at Solace Academy School, S Munhoi Village, Singngat subdivision, CCpurand distributed nutritious mid-day meal to the students, staff and parents of the students.
Dr S Ranbir Singh, CMO, STC, BSF CCpur deliver talks on Covid-19 and conducted medical check-up of all the students and subsequently provided medicines.
Speaking on the occasion Grace Zamnu, MDC (Member of District Council) from Muallum Constituency and owner of the school expressed her gratitude to DK Tripathi, IG, STC BSF CCpur for the event.
A total of 50 students were given mid-dayy meal, medicines and other edible items on the occasion.
All the students were basically from the poor economic background who studied at the private school free of cost.
ESC Nongmeibung
The Eastern Students' Club, Nongmeibung, Imphal East distributed relief materials including onions and potatoes to households under the jurisdiction of the club and all tenants including students, said a statement issued by the club's general secretary T Jodha Singh.
UNACCO Group
UNACCO Group extended essential commodities (rice, dal, potatoes etc) and monetary aids to people of Keirao Bitra, Kongpal Kongkham Leikai and Ural Chiru village.
Disinfection programme at Moreh
BJP Tengnoupal Mandal carried out a disinfection drive at Moreh Forest office gate, Moreh Ward no 2 and other strategic locations such as Moreh Hospital and Primary Health Centre, Moreh among others.
Other places that were distributed relief materials are Tendongyan, Imphal West; Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal; Ward no 8 of Thoubal Municipal Council; Tentha Makha Leikai; differrent Wards of Yairipok Municipal Council, Toubul Kabui Khul, Bishnupur, Irengband and Sora, Kakching district.
