Works Minister Thongam filed his nomination papers for the upcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections from Thongju Assembly Constituency on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket today.
He filed two nomination papers supported by a proposer each at the office of Returning Officer (RO) Subinson Sapam.
The seventh day of the filing of nominations also witnessed 31 others including two women candidates filing their nominations in Imphal East district.
Seram Neken Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) and Sanglakpam Preshyojit Sharma from Janata Dal -United (JD-U) also filed their nominations from Thongju AC.
For Kshetrigao AC, MLA Nahakpam Indrajit Singh filed his nomination for the upcoming election on BJP ticket at the office of RO Subinson Sapam.
Sheikh Noorul Hassan of NPP and Smt Punnam Rani Wangkhem of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) too filed their nomination papers in the same Constituency.
Wangkhei AC, MLA Yumkham Erabot filed his nomination on NPP ticket.
Thangjam Arunkumar of JD-U and Rajkumar Priyobarta Singh of INC also filed their nominations at the office of RO Pooja Elangbam.
In Yaiskul AC, Thounaojam Brinda of JD-U, Ningombam Helendro Singh of INC and Rajkumar Suraj Singh of Shiv Sena filed their nominations at the office of RO Pooja Elangbam.
In Keirao AC, MLA L Rameshor Meetei of BJP filed his nomination at the office of RO Karam Uma Devi.
Further, Thongram Tony Meetei of INC, Md Nasiruddin Khan of NPP, Yumnam Shanta Singh of JD-U, Md Islamuddin (MI) Khan of NCP and Toijam Debananda of Shiv Sena also filed their nominations from 6-Keirao AC .
For Andro AC, Th Shyamkumar filed his nomination on BJP ticket.
Lourembam Sanjoy also filed his nomination on NPP ticket at the office of RO Karam Uma Devi.
For Lamlai AC, Mongjam Poireihenba of the Republican Party of India-Athawale (RPI-A) filed his nomination at the office of RO Surma Thiyam.
Achoibam Deben of INC and Sapam Kangleipal Meetei (Independent) also filed their nominations from Lamlai AC.
For Khurai AC, Laitonjam Jayananda Singh of NPP; Toijam Lokendro Singh of JD-U; Heishnam Subhas Singh of LJP (Ram Villas); Khuraijam Ratankumar Singh of NCP and Khagokpam Khamba of RPI (A) filed their nominations at the office of RO Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.
Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro Singh of BJP who filed his nomination on February 5 and CPI candidate RK Amusana Singh (alias Rajkumar Amusana Singh) who filed his nomination on February 4 also filed their nominations again today.
For Khundrakpam AC, Th Lokeshwar of INC and Thangjam Mohendro Singh of BJP filed their nominations at the office of RO Surma Thiyam.
In Nambol AC, Thounaojam Basanta (BJP) filed his nomination papers today.
Laishram Radhakishore (BJP), I Nalini alias Memma (NPP), L Brojen (RPI) and Ngangom Shivakumar (Independent) filed their nomination papers today in Oinam AC.
Konthoujam Govindas (BJP) and N Joykumar (INC) also submitted their nominations to the RO concerned today in Bishnupur AC.
In Moirang AC, Mairembam Prithviraj (BJP) and Thongam Shanti (NPP) filed their nominations.
In Kumbi AC, Ningthoujam Mangi (NPP), Ahanthem Sanjoy (JD-U) and S (O) Sorojini filed their nomination papers today.
In Saikul AC, Ch Ajang Khongsai (JD-U), Yamthong Haokip (BJP), J Lunkim (RPI), Kimneo Haokip Hangshing (KPA), Seikholal Haokip (NPP) and Lhingkim Haokip (INC) filed their nomination papers today.
In Kangpokpi AC, Nemcha Kipgen (BJP), Ngamkhohen Kipgen (INC) and Thangminlen Kipgen (Independent) filed their nominations.
Lamtinthang Haokip (INC), Johnny Gangmei (JD-U) and Ngamthang Haokip (BJP) have also filed their nomination papers in Saitu AC.
In Phungyar AC, Awung Shimray Hopingson (BJP) filed his nomination papers today before the RO concerned.
INC candidate of Heirok AC Moirangthem Okendro filed his nomination papers at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Thoubal today.
RPI (A) candidate and former Minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang contesting from Wangkhem AC too filed his nomination papers.
INC candidate and former Minister Moirangthem Hemanta of Wangjing-Tentha AC also filed his nomination to the AC's Returning Officer.
In Kakching district, three candidates of Hiyanglam AC submitted their nomination papers.
The three candidates from Hiyanglam AC who filed their nominations are BJP candidate MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam, NPP candidate Maibam Dhanabir and Indian National Congress candidate Dr Huidrom Jiten.
Filing of nominations for the first phase of the upcoming Assembly elections to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly began on February 1 .
Nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9 .
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 11 .
The first phase of the two-phase polling for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will be held in 38 Assembly constituencies on February 27 and the second phase covering 22 seats would be held on March 3 .
Counting of votes would begin on March 10 .
