Lamka, October 26 2013 :
Exactly a year after the first case of Den-gue was detected in the district, health officials were said to be monitoring some isolated cases of the disease reportedly ac-quired by patients from outside the State, even as local officials here said there is no reason to panic so far.
Dr Lalbiakdiki said she has seen two to three cases but expressed her reservation in raising an alarm as all the ca-ses originated outside the State.
They were more or less stable, she said even as she added that there is no rea-son to push the panic button as people have a history of overreacting to such situations.
The district CMO, Dr HL Liensang later today told The Sangai Express that he has issued instruction to the IDSP officials to collect samples of the suspected Dengue cases that have been detected in the district for confirmation at a competent laboratory.
He nevertheless claimed that the five cases will be sent for confirmation.
He issued a public appeal yesterday through the local dailies to take precautionary measures by forestalling any suspected breeding ground for dengue carrying mosquito as a pre-emptive measure to tac-kle any possible outbreak - much like last year.
