Nurses sensitised to waste management

College of Nursing, RIMS, today organised a one-day awareness cum sensitization programme on "Sanitation and Waste management" in the auditorium of the college.
The basic concern was the disposal of domestic and general waste.
Delivering the key note address, Prof N.Damayanti, adviser of the College of Nursing and chairperson of the Hostel Development Committee, said that that there are over 1300 students in RIMS campus staying in different hostels.
Besides, there are also staffs.
Under the circumstances, wastage management to spruce up RIMS campus and maintain health and hygiene has become a must.
She underlined the importance of the role of various categories of workers in keeping the campus neat and clean.
.EDebendra, chief accounts officer of RIMS, said that one of the important questions asked of the candidates in the recent interview for appointment of some teaching staff in Dental College was the method for the disposal of wastages.
The situation in RIMS has worsened by the clogged drains and absence of modern sewage system, he pointed out.
Prof S.Sekharjit, Director of RIMS, observed that the programme shall be useful since the participants will learn many things about the safe disposal of the wastages.
He also disclosed that three systems of equipments for the disposal of wastages have been installed in RIMS.
Since the number of patients and attendants is higher that an ordinary hamlet a huge quantity of wastage has to be tackled.
He hoped that from early next year people will not be seeing the mounds of wastage here and there on the RIMS campus.
The Director also spoke at length on the disposal of plastic bottles and other hazardous items inside the RIMS campus.
Resource persons who attended the programme enlightened the participants on various aspects of the wastage disposal.
Students, workers, engineers and other staffs of RIMS were present in the programme.
