The Zomi Council today condoled the demise of internationally recognised Zomi leader, Rev Dr Chin Do Kham, incumbent general secretary of Global Zomi Alliance, who passed away on October 13 at Washington DC, USA due to a bout of heart attack, reports our CCPur correspondent.
A special condolence session was hosted later today at Zomi Council's administrative office here, in his memory.
'Sia Chin Do Kham has been blessed to be a blessing for the Zomi and other believers across the globe,' said the Council in their statement.
'He left with us indelible footprints for all Zomi to follow.
His dreams of a healthy Zomi nation, founded in Christian faith, shall continue to inspire Zomi generation after generation,' it added.
Chairman of Zomi Council, LB Sona and Covener of the third World Zomi Convention delivered messages at the condolence meeting while K Vingzamawi read the article written by the late leader for the WZC souvenir.
Mourning the death of one of its intended main speaker, organisers of the third World Zomi Convention released some portion of his article wherein he wrote, 'how fluent I may be in English or how mingled I may so appear to the Western society; they will never change the fact that I a Zomi, who loves to eat and live the foods and life of the Zomi.' He has even claimed that time has come for the Zomi across the globe to rise in one voice, in his reference to the convention that will begin here from October 25. Rev Khen P Tombing, attending the condolence meeting has dubbed the demise of Sia Kham as the biggest ever lost for Zomis.
His counterpart, Rev Luaichinthang said it is a loss whose extent the Zomis will never comprehend.
