Imphal, October 14, 2013:
A second assembly session of the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) was held today at Tribal Research Institute, Imphal.
The student body which was defunct for almost three years was revived with new executives like Thangzamuan Tombing as the president for the tenure 2012-2015. Set of agendas were discussed at the meeting including review of previous resolutions made in the first assembly session of November 20, 2012 and formation of the constitution of drafting committee.
Regarding this issue, the session has decided to have a convenor lead the drafting committee and have a representative member from each of the drafting units of ZSUM, TKS, and ATSUM etc.
The house also discussed on the recently conducted MPSC exam 2013 and resolved that the ratio maintenance in selecting eligible candidates should be looked at.
For every 10 candidates to be recruited, the committee should select at least 100 candidates in the preliminary exam.
And for UPSC exam, 1000 candidates should be selected in the preliminary for every 100 candidates to be taken overall.
Further, the session also maintained that Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) located in the valleys should be set up at the respective constituencies.
The student body then warned that if the demands are not reflected by the government, then various forms of democratic agitations including bandhs and blockades will be taken up soon.
