NEC Secy visits Ukhrul

Ukhrul, October 14, 2013:
The Secretary of North East Council (NEC), Ameising Luikham visited Ukhrul to take stock of NEC funded projects implemented by NERCORMP/IFAD, Ukhrul yesterday.
The NEC Secretary inspected the demonstration site of Piggery and Diary constructed four years back at Hungpung, Ukhrul.
He also held a meeting with the district administration, PHED and NER- CORMP/IFAD, Ukhrul at Guest House conference hall, here.
During the meeting, various NEC funded projects and programmes in the area and the State were reviewed.
Water scarcity problem of the Ukhrul district headquarters was discussed during the meeting with concerned officials.
He suggested for rain water harvest, one possible means to stabilise the scarcity of water in the district during lean season.
The project Manager NERCORMP/IFAD, Ukhrul apprised the NEC Secretary over the process of forthcoming Convergence problem.
Luikham assured to release the pending 2nd instalment bills for the Piggery and Diary construction project.
Later, Ameishing Luikham headed straight to the District Hospital, Ukhrul.
He joined the 5th Operation Outreach Mission at the hospital.
He also interacted with the district Hospital authority.
The hospital authority has urged the visiting NEC Secretary to expedite the ongoing 50 bedded hospital construction at Hungpung as the project is a joint venture of NEC and the State.
The present problems faced by the hospital were also highlighted during his visit today.
