Tangkhul CSOs term deaths as 'murder', demand justice

Tangkhul Civil Society Organizations have strongly condemned the 'brutal murder' of two youths of Sinakeithei village last week.
Following the recovery of the bodies of the two at Sinakeithei village, members of Tangkhul CSOs rushed there today and held a joint meeting with the Village Authority.
They unanimously resolved to demand justice for the victims and immediate arrest of the persons involved in killing the two village youths, failing which the dead bodies will not be claimed until their demands are met.
The deceased persons are identified as Thotreichan Kashung (31) S/o Mothang Kashung and Naosomi Lungleng (29) S/o Late Lightson Lungleng.
According to reports, the two did not return home from Aug 4 and after missing for 4 days, their highly decomposed bodies were recovered from the outskirt of Sinakeithei village at Ihang river bank on Aug 8 at around 3 pm .
Canaan Zimik headman of Sinakeithei said that the bodies were found lying in a suspicious manner, and asserted that it did not look like natural deaths.
The decomposed bodies bore broken skull and teeth, he claimed.
The bodies were taken to Imphal for post mortem.
Following the incident, the Tangkhul Naga Zingtun Longphang (TNZL) has submitted a petition to the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul for immediate arrest of the accused persons involved in the murder of the two youths.
