Social service camp begins

A 4-day social service camp organised by Social and Cultural Association and Lamding Elangbam Leikai Task Force at Lamding Elangbam Leikai under Thoubal district began from Tuesday with planting of saplings by Khangabok MLA O Surjakumar and Sangaiyumpham Zilla Parishad member Md Hibjur Rahaman.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Surjakumar appreciated the initiative of organising the camp with the objective of taking up cleanliness drive in the area.
He then lambasted the government for not providing adequate quantity of fertilisers to farmers who have been affected by Covid-19 and regretted that to procure a bag of fertiliser at the rate of Rs 1100 - Rs 1200 from black market.
The government should provide the fertilisers to farmers at the earliest, if not, the MCAs should beallowed to arrange it through pradhans, Zilla Parishad members, clubs, organisations, local leaders etc, the MLA said.
