Asufii Christian Institute observes "International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples"

Asufii Christian Institute(ACI) on Monday observed the "International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples" through an online platform.
The programme organised by NSS and Research Cell of ACI started with a welcome address by NSS PO, Ng Mary Saza, Asst professor ACI.
Commemorating the day a short video was presented by the NSS.
The gathering was addressed by Dr Pfokrelo Kapesa, Asst professor of International Relations, North East Christian University, Dimapur.
She enlightened the participants on the world's indigenous peoples and stated that the indigenous people with diverse and unique cultures, traditions, languages and knowledge were often marginalized with no voice in the policy-making of the State.
She stated that the indigenous peoples were marginalized from political and economic participation, denied of their land, culture and languages.
The programme was attended by students, teachers and NSS volunteers.
The international day of the world's Indigenous peoples is commemorated every year on August 9 and is celebrated this year on the theme "Leaving no one behind: Indigenous peoples and the cell for a new social contract" .
