State farmer Thingcha interacts with PM Modi

Imphal, August 10 2021:
Thingcha Gangte of Manipur was among the six farmers selected from across the country for interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
Thingcha represented Loulhoumi Organic Producers' Company, a farmers' company based in Churachandpur district which has been successfully farming pineapple.
One farmer each from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Manipur and Jammu & Kashmir were selected for interaction with the Prime Minister.
Responding to a question from the PM on assistance she received from the government and marketing facility, Thingcha informed PM Modi that she got financial assistance under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) and the government agency helps her in marketing of pineapple.
An MoU was signed with Meira Foods, a food processing unit in Imphal, which buys the raw products and export the finished products to several states after value addition.
It also helps in creating jobs and facilitating income opportunities for many people, she told the PM.
The PM encouraged her and other farmers of the state while asking them to continue their activities and expand the food processing activities to increase farmers' income so as to improve the state's economy.
Meanwhile, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) project director Kh Devadutta Sharma informed media persons that the agency is happy to have a farmer from the state getting the opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister.
The interaction will encourage farmers from the state to adopt organic farming proactively, he opined.
