Centre turns down creation of new posts at RIMS

The Centre has reportedly turned down creation of fresh posts at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) due to the institute's failure to fill up vacant posts.
Speaking to media persons today, RIMS Director Dr Priyosakhi said that they are now working to hold recruitment drives for the vacant posts.
Saying that there is a backlog at RIMS due to non appointment of regular posts since 2016, she continued that the institute is preparing to hold an interview to hire 130 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) under a mega plan soon.
Medical Superintendent of RIMS Professor Nepram Sanjib, on the other hand, said that the institute is not in a condition to open new wards and increase the bed capacity of ICU due to the shortage of nursing staff and attendants.
There are many shortages at RIMS, he conveyed and added that RIMS can operate more productively if the problem of manpower shortage is solved.
On recruitment to the vacant posts, the Medical Superintendent appealed to the people not to spread falsehood, adding that the recruitment examination will be carried out fairly while recruitment will be based purely on merit.
All those who were recruited recently were all based on their performances, he said.
Deputy Director (Administration) of RIMS Naorem Indrakumar stated that a proposal has been submitted to the Centre (Department of Personnel and Training) to fill up about 535 posts of RIMS through the Government scheme 'Rozgar Mela' within 2024 .
He said that the Ministry has also sent a reply to them asking about the number of direct recruitment which can be made every month.
Recruitment of 10 Office Assistants on contractual basis has been done after Dr Priyosakhi assumed the post of Director on January 16 following which nine posts of LDC were also hired, he conveyed.
A recruitment examination was also done yesterday to hire nine Group C posts under different categories and the result has been declared, he informed.
He also said that 54 vacant posts at RIMS have been filled up since February 10 while preparation is afoot to hold an interview to hire 130 regular Multi-Tasking Staff on April 2 .
Dr Indrakumar continued that 54 Nursing Officers will also be recruited on an all India basis shortly.
To a query, he responded that there is a vacancy of 54 nursing staff at RIMS.
Dr Indrakumar also said that he has no idea whether former authority of the RIMS conformed to the guidelines of Compulsory Notification of Vacancies Act in holding recruitment drives or not.
