Imphal, June 18 2020:
"We would still be under the shabby and worn out house with three kids if it were not for Nishikant," said Ibengoubi, a widow who moved into her newly built house today.
Proprietor of The Sangai Express, Nishikant Singh Sapam had built a three room house (with bathroom attached) for the family of four.
Wangkhem ongbi Ibengoubi is wife of late Wangkhem Chandramani Singh of Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Imphal.
She has a son and two daughters.
She used to work as a domestic help before the COVID-19 lockdown.
On the occasion of handing her the key to the house, Ibengoubi thanked and praised Nishikant for what he has done for her and the kids.

"We had been living in a shabby house which remained flooded (clogged with water) most of the time.
We had little money to change the rusted metal roof and mend the holes.
Nishikant came as a blessing for our family...He is our saviour," said Ibengoubi adding she never thought in her wildest dream that someone could build them a house like Nishikant has done.
She recalled that Nishikant had visited her house on April 28 with members of the local club and elders and almost immediately assured her a new house.
"He (Nishikant) promised to send mistris (construction workers) the next day," she recalled adding she had never anticipated that she would see construction workers lined up at her doorsteps the very next day.
As the day was not auspicious, the workers were told to begin the construction work the next day (April 30) .
The house was completed in one month and five days, she said.
"A local politician had also approached our family and promised us a house but we never saw the promise converted into reality.
I never anticipated this day would come," Ibengoubi said.
Chaokhat Thourang Kanglup, Thouda Bhabok Leikai, general secretary Naorem Tomba said the club members and elders of the locality had approached The Sangai Express proprietor for assistance to the family.
Nishikant has been providing relief materials, monetary assistance to many who have been hit hard by the COVID-19 lockdown, he said thanking him for his noble help towards the family.
Nishikant Singh Sapam said the local club and elders came across the family when conducting a survey to identify households which are in dire need of assistance and relief.
As promised, the house was completed and handed over before the rainy season, he added.
"I am not engaged in humanitarian service for elections.
I am simply helping those who are in need.
I am grateful that I am able to help those who need assistance," said Nishikant, adding he will be building a house for a senior citizen of the locality soon.
Nishikant Singh Sapam cut the ribbon and inaugurated the house in the presence of local club members, Meira Paibis and elders.
He presented the house key to Ibengoubi.
Ibengoubi gracefully accepted the key and expressed her profound gratitude to Nishikant, her family's "saviour".
"The kids will now have a healthy, safe and secure house," she said.
