State tally reaches 644

With twenty six new cases confirmed for COVID-19 today, the total case in the State has reached 644 .
The twenty six cases were detected at JNIMS.
Their travel history is not known yet, said sources in JNIMS while another seven patients have been discharged after recovery.
A statement of the COVID-19 Control Room spokesperson and Additional Director (Health), Khoirom Sasheekumar said the State's recovery rate has improved to 32.83 percent.
On the other hand, of the 77 cases reported and carried in TSE yesterday, 26 cases were from Pherzawl district which has the distinction of being the last district to record Covid-19 positive cases.
The cases that returned positive last night include 18 females and 8 males.
All of them are said to be Mumbai returnees, currently housed at the district quarantine centre at Engedi Retreat Centre, Geljang.
With the latest cases, Pherzawl district now has 31 positive cases with 2 already recovered.
The active cases stand at 29.Pherzawl district administration has set up quarantine centres at two locations within Churachandpur district.
The facility at Geljang currently has 117 inmates while another at Muolvaiphei houses 44 inmates.
Meanwhile, entry of vehicles at Mao gate from 4 pm has been restricted while the same at Jiribam has been restricted from 12 pm, said the spokesperson.
All people entering Imphal via road should report at the District Screening Centre at Modern College, Porompat while those coming in by air should report at the screening centre opened at HRD Academy, Ghari, the statement added.
Meanwhile, commenting on the rising number of cases in the State, a source in the Health Department said the State is likely to see more than 1000 cases when testing of all the returnees are completed.
The highly placed source said RIMS and JNIMS have ramped up testing following procurement of new and additional testing equipment.
Even though there is a rise in the number of cases, it is fortunate that there is no community transmission yet.
All the cases are detected from quarantine centres (inmates), said the source.
