19th Great June Uprising, Unity Day observed in different parts of the State

The 19th Great June Uprising, Unity Day was observed today, though simpler due to COVID pandemic, in Imphal, Moreh, Jiribam and other places to pay homage to 18 Manipuris who were killed during an agitation in 2001 where thousands of people came out in streets to protect the territorial integrity of the State.
Moreh: The 19th Great June Uprising, Unity Day was observed today at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung by Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup Moreh, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup Moreh.
Paying floral tributes and observing two-minute silence as a token of respect to brave souls martyred on this day in 2001 were the highlights of the observance.
IMPHAL: The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur State Council observed the 19th Great June Uprising, Unity Day at the Irabot Bhavan, Imphal today with MSC, CPI secretary L Sotinkumar, State secretariat member RK Amusana and State councillor T Nandakeshore as presidium members.
A two minutes silence was observed to pay respect to the martyrs of June 18 and floral tribute was also paid to them.
During the function, L Sotinkumar, RK Amusana and Imphal West district secretary Th Meghachandra spoke on the significance of June 18 and keeping the territorial integration of the State intact.
Jiribam: Similar observance was also organised by All Jiribam United Clubs Association (AJUCA), Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) and IPSA, Jiribam at the office of AJUCA at Jiribam.
Students, CSOs and womenfolk paid floral tributes to the photo of people who died during the June uprising to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
IMPHAL: Palem Panthou Cultural Trust, Langjing Achouba also observed the 19th Great June Uprising Day at its office, today.
Programme committee member, EZCC Kolkata Ranjeet Chingtham; Pradhan of Langjing Gram Panchayat Mongjam Romen Singh and writer Mutuwa Tomba were the presidium members of the function.
As part of the observance, the gathering maintained 2 minutes of silence and paid floral tributes to honour the souls of 18 people who made the supreme sacrifice on June 18, 2001 .
United Porompat Baruni Road Organisation (UPBRO) also remembered the 18 martyred souls during a function held at the community hall of the Eastern Youth Development Association, Top Khongnangkhong.
MSAD
Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD) too observed this particular day at DIET quarantine centre at Heirok along with inmates lodged there.
In a statement, MSAD said that the territory of Manipur should not be compromised under any circumstances.
Bishnupur: Loumee Sinmee Apunba Lup Bishnupur and United Club Organisation, Bishnupur too observed the 19th Great June Uprising Day at Ningthoukhong Public Park.
Organisations and local clubs such as New Young Sporting Club, the Northern United's Organisation (NUCO), All Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation, Sinlam Sintha Apunba Nupi Lup, Singjamei Apunba Nupi Lup, Siroy Club also observed the 19th Great June Uprising, Unity Day.
