COVID-19: Nemcha chairs another joint meeting at Senapati

Kangpokpi, April 09 2020: As part of her campaign for a collective fight against the pandemic COVID-19 in the State, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen, being the Minister in-charge of both Kangpokpi and Senapati, chaired another joint meeting today at Senapati DHQs with all the DLOs and CSOs of Senapati in the presence of DC and SP Senapati.

The joint meeting accessing the situation and activities in combating the deadly pandemic COVID-19 in Senapati and deliberating on the future plans and preparations to contain the virus was held at the office chamber of DC Senapati.

The Minister in-charge of Kangpokpi and Senapati lauded the tireless effort of District Administration, law and order enforcement agency, medical department and other frontline workers and the overwhelming support and cooperation on the part of all civil society organizations of Senapati in combating the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in the district.

The Minister said that we are in such a situation that needs, "Sabka Saath, Sabka Surakshit" and it should be facta non verba from all walk of life to overcome the highly contiguous pandemic COVID-19.She continued that owing to the Government stringent policy to safe its people from the pandemic COVID-19, lots of instructions, directives, Dos and Don'ts were pouring in upon all the District Administration swelling up their workload which gives them a sleepless night and exhausted days while the Government is strictly monitoring all the activities of the District Administration.

During such juncture, many misunderstanding and communication gap could arise among the people and the District Administration where the civil society organizations have to play a vital role to bridge any gap between the people and the Government.

She also said that the Government target is to contain the spread of pandemic COVID-19 and at the same time it should not let it's people go hungry for which the people support and cooperation is highly needed.

While lauding the public for the cooperation this far, the Minister urged all to be under strict vigilance being the pandemic COVID-19 a complicated disease.

Replying to a query about what step would be taken to contain the spread of the virus, the Minister responded that the State Government is taking all precautionary measures following the instructions given by the Central Government.

The lady Minister also pointed out that concerned MLAs were instructed to address the grievances of less fortunate people in their respective Constituencies during the lockdown while adding that Government had sanctioned Rs 25 lakh each to all the MLAs to spend in their respective ACs only in connection with pandemic COVID-19.Minister Nemcha Kipgen exhorted the people of Senapati and CSOs to stand united and render exemplary support and cooperation towards the frontline workers, including District Administration, police, medical department, etc.in combating the highly contiguous pandemic COVID-19 in the district.

Considering the suggestion of the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), the Minister in-charge opined that fresh vegetables from various places in the districts should be stock in various locations in Senapati, Imphal, Kangpokpi, Sekmai, etc.

for sale and for that matter the student body should take responsibility in delivering the vegetables while adding that home delivery systems should also be introduced which will ease many problems of the people.

DC Senapati, Somorjit Salam highlighted the various beneficiary schemes approved by the Government so far including the PM Kishan scheme, PM Ujjwala Scheme and NFSA rice to all cardholders in the State and directed all agents to reach the NFSA rice to their villages under the supervision of their concerned SDOs and to be monitored by concerned Village Authority while directing all the agents to take countersigned from the village authority and submitted to the concerned SDOs.

While appreciating the Biren led State Government, Civil Society Organization representatives sought for more testing machines at all entry points to contain the virus from spreading.

CSO representative also urged all concerned to coordinate with the elected ADC members to reach the people at the grass-root level.

Solomon Arow, President, Naga People's Organization sought the Minister-in-charge to provide for those who don't have NFSA card during this difficult time while Consumer Club of the district sought the attention of the Minister to arrange an alternative for those who don't possess NFSA cards.

Hopeson Mao, caretaker of Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) appealed to the State Government to give more importance at the entry point, Mao gate and assess the inflow of outsiders into the State.

While asking the Minister for proper distribution of testing kits at the entry point, the student leader also assured to extend all possible manpower to contain the spread of the virus.

The student leader also asked the authorities concerned to chalk out stranded students in the district and provide them with relief materials.

Meanwhile, DC Senapati said that rice under NFSA would be doubled in the coming month.
