Imphal, April 01 2015 :
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba has said that his party has constituted a seven-member co-ordinating committee comprising important party stalwarts to chalk out strategies to effectively fight the upcoming ADC elections.
Speaking to reporters at their Nityaipat Chuthek office, Th Chaoba said that BJP would field candidates in all the ADC segments.
He said that the last ADC election, wherein Congress received a clean sweep, was not conducted in a free and fair manner.
Saying that people are fed up with the 13-year-old Congress Government and there was no development in the hill areas, Th Chaoba expressed confidence that his party would register wins in all ADC seats this time.
There is no proper water and power supplies and good roads even in district headquarters, Th Chaoba said and alleged that Ministers and officials concerned have siphoned off the funds meant for the development of hill areas.
He alleged that the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister do not understand the hardships and inconveniences being faced by the people of hill areas as they never visit these areas by road.
On the other hand, the MLAs concerned put the development funds into their pockets instead of looking into the basic needs of the poor villagers, he alleged.
Saying that his party's mass enrolment programme has been extended up to April 30, Th Chaoba said that the party has set a target to register over 3 lakh people.
Taking part at the press conference, former president M Bhorot said that Union Ministers have been regularly visiting the State to bring development.
He alleged that Opposition MLAs are now tight lipped due to the fear of the Congress Government.
Former president Sh Shantikumar, Dr H Borbabu, Prof S Tiken, Prof S Gangmumei Kamei, RK Ranjan, organisation secretary S Premananda and M Ashinikumar were also present at the press conference.
